Brand Registration in Iran with Foreign Ownership

Foreign individuals or companies can register their trademarks in Iran under the following main conditions:

1. Reciprocity Rule: The applicant’s home country must allow Iranian nationals to register trademarks as well.

2. Local Representative: A legal representative or local agent with an address in Iran is required for all official communications.

3. Brand Availability: The trademark must not be identical or confusingly similar to an existing registered mark in the same class.

4. Document Authentication: All foreign documents must be legalized by the applicant’s home authorities and the Iranian Embassy, then officially translated into Persian.
